Inception

I can't believe I'm starting a blog.  On the bright side it might only last a few days, less for me to write, and less for you to read.  Then again, I like to think, a blog seems like a place where I might put down my thoughts with some coherence.

The title, Memes and Margin, covers my primary interests in the broadest terms I could manage in roughly one minute of conscious breathing and thought.

Memes:
- My interest in memes comes from my desire for an intact cultural heritage.  Since I wasn't born with much of one, I wish to find, compile, invent, or otherwise steal the memes (in this case, wisdom traditions and life practices) needed to construct such a heritage. I spend a lot of time researching and experimenting with wisdom traditions and life practices designed for cultivation of the inner self.  I believe this inner cultivation can lead to the increase of what I call "life margin".  Some examples from my life are yoga, meditation, and ancestral health (including but not limited to dietary behavior, sleep/rest behavior, bodily movement and general fitness behavior, and learning through mentorship).

Margin:
Maslow's heirarchy of needs is a good starting point to explain what I mean by "margin".  I posit that the greater the life margin a person has, the higher up Maslow's pyramid a person will tend, with little effort, driven primarily by innate curiosity.  Sickness = low life margin.  Optimal health = maximal life margin.

Goals: Increase life margin through the exploration of memes, both ancient and novel.  Learn, teach, grow, play, love, be.
